WHAT IS FRIENDS OF THE FAMILY MINISTRIES?

Friends of the Family Ministries (FOFM) is a non-profit, non-denominational organization committed to building healthy relationships and healthy homes in the Mid-Willamette Valley of Oregon.

FOFM provides a variety of services including counseling, workshops and seminars teaching and coaching. In addition to these services, FOFM is a community resource that works with and is supported by a wide range of community organizations, businesses and individuals.

WHEN WAS IT STARTED?

Friends of the Family Ministries was founded by Executive Director, Ken Himes in 1994. He previously served for 17 years as Pastor of Family Ministries at Northwest Hills Baptist Church in Corvallis, Oregon. Ken holds a doctorate in Marriage and Family Ministry from Biola University and is a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. He and his wife Mary have two children and have been married over 40 years.

STATISTICS

In 2008 & the first six months of 2009, Friends of the Family:

• Provided 1071 counseling sessions to individuals, couples, adolescents and children – 820 of those sessions were in our Corvallis office, and 251 sessions were in our Albany office.
• Reached 1072 people through education done at seminars, trainings and presentations, of which 217 of those were 8th grade students at Linus Pauling Middle School; marking our first school year of making Healthy Relationship presentations to middle school as well as high school students.
• Offered resources and referrals to 514 people via phone calls and had 4072 people visit our website.
