Overview | Staff Directory | Board of Directors | Newsletters Healthy Relationships Education Project Teenagers are all about relationships, especially with each other. Sooner or later, 90% of today's adolescents will get married. Sadly, nearly half of those marriages will end in divorce. Our presentations teach students the skills they need to create healthy relationships now and in the future. Our researched-based curriculum from The Dibble Institute, www.dibbleinstitute.org, teaches students skills that increase their chances for healthy relationships. Sample topics include: getting to know someone, communication skills, managing intense emotions, how to deal with conflict, maturity and dating. Friends of the Family has made presentations in a number of area schools including Corvallis High School, Lebanon High School, Linus Pauling Middle School, Philomath Middle and High Schools, Santiam Christian High School and Scio High School. We've also spoken at Crescent Valley High School, East Linn Christian High School, Oregon State University, and Western Oregon University. How effective is this project? Listen to what students are telling us: I was surprised to learn that
over 15,000 marriages end in divorce in Oregon every year. I will set
my standards high and date for a long time to get to know my future spouse.
I will be more aware of things I need to look for in myself and others
before entering into a serious
relationship.
